Responsible for managing the operations side of the Mortgage Operations Department including processing, closing, post-closing and compliance with mortgage regulations.
Manages all aspects of the mortgage operations department for all mortgage products and services offer by the bank.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training department employees, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining procedures, policies and guidelines to assure that mortgage operations are current with secondary market and investor requirements and guidelines.
Works closely with the bank’s Compliance and Audit departments to insure the mortgage operations department operates in a consistently compliant manner.
Adheres to all State and Federal Banking Regulations, receive and research new regulations, policies and procedures and implement them. Ensure necessary changes or recommendations have been implemented as directed.
Effectively monitors tracking and controls on a daily and intra-daily basis, correcting repetitive and periodic tasking mistakes by staff in a timely manner, such that processing, pre-funding and post-closing audit errors are minimized.
Ensures that the department workflows, processes and technology platforms functionality is documented and up to date to eliminate or minimize errors and maximize the efficiency of the loan process.
Ensures that Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) reporting is completed correctly prior to required regulatory deadlines.
Responds to any quality issues or audit finding cited by either bank, outside QC vendor, Secondary market investor or MI company.
Works closely with Mortgage Sales Leaders & Mortgage Underwriting Manager to maximize efficiencies, enhance customer experience, and achieve department goals.
Work with system providers to utilize applications to fullest capacity, streamlining processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Responsible for coordinating projects and implementation within the Mortgage Department.
Participates in strategic discussions with the Mortgage Management Team.
5+ years mortgage operations experience with processing, closing or underwriting required
Detailed knowledge of mortgage lending processes
Experience and proficiency with Encompass
Strong knowledge of State & Federal Regulations including TILA, RESPA, HMDA
Highly effective interpersonal skills to manage a team
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
3+ Years supervisory experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
Mortgage Loan Underwriting experience (FHA DE Preferred)
